Biography

1. Please tell the whole RIISTETYT-story including line-ups, complete discography, tours, etc?!
Riistetyt was originally named Cadgers. It was formed in 1980 or 81. In 81 (in fall of the year) they made a split with Kaaos (PTEP 01). Line-up was Lateri - voc., Perry - gtr., Piise - b. and Stydy - dr. In spring of 1982 Perry left the Cadgers and formed a band called Järjestyshäiriö (they did one great demo-tape, on vocals was Kake from Kaaos). Raipe replace Perry in guitar and so band became Riistetyt. "Laki ja järjestys" -ep (PTEP 03) came out in summer of 82. In fall of that year Piise left the Riistetyt (he was only 15 years old and he had something else) and Perry came back. The line-up: Lateri - voc., Perry - gtr., Raipe - b., Stydy - dr. They made the lp. "Valtion Vankina" (PRO 006), which came out in January 83. Then Raipe left and Piise came back to play bass. Next record was "Skitsofrenia" (PRO 018) 12" ep. It came out in spring of 1983. In that summer the line-up changed again, Piise and Stydy left on this time. New drummer and bass player was found from Kaaos, Jaska and me (Nappi). We were so fucking bored with Jakke. In October we made "Tuomiopäivä" -ep, which came out until 1991 (I don't know the reason for this). A month later we did the studiosection for "Nightmares in Darkness", it came out in next year (RRR 34). The live side on that album was recorded at Puntala festivals 83. After we were in studio Perry went to army and we had any guitarist. On that time we had the first Holy Dolls -project with Lateri. In December came Rike from Bastards to play guitar. He was very active to take care of gigs and other things of band but money was the only reason why he did all that. It became clear to me little bit later. Our Holy Dolls -project ispired him to form the Pyhät Nuket to addition for Riistetyt. We did with Riistetyt further one record "Raiskattu Tulevaisuus" (RRR 44). It came out later 1984, much more later than I left the band. On covers of that album they only thanked me for playing bass on that record. Ok… that tells something about athmosphere in those days. I didn't get along with Rike, 'cos I noticed what kind of asshole he was. I left the band in April 84 and I formed the Kuolleet Kukat with Jakke. Riistetyt went to touring in USA in summer of that year. They had Make and Mika from TampereSS in guitar and bass there. I've heard that the music was only partically Riistetyt stuff in USA. Later they left Riistetyt completely and concentrated to Pyhät Nuket.

2. What motivated you to give it a second chance?? What made RIISTETYT split-up (or rather; rename & change style) in the first place?
Lateri have interested to put Riistetyt up for some years. Those 3 songs on "Proloaded Millennium" compilation tells about that. These songs are made by Make (ex TampereSS, later Riistetyt). The Lepakko weekend in last November was reason enough to put band together for a while. Since this January we've work with band seriously. Without Rike on this time. I thought that he have changed in all these years, but no. He's same kind of asshole than 16 years ago. We have same drummer than in Lepakko now (Timo) and his brother Raimo on guitar. I thik that the biggest reason was Rike what made Riistetyt split-up in 80's. He just wanted money. The style change was part of that, that kind of pop music were big hit in Finland those days. Lot of gigs means lot of money. He have never been interested in punk/hc etc. in way of life, it was just easy way to reach a band. Political aspect was nothing to him.
3. Please give some short info on PYHÄT NUKET/ HOLY DOLLS (line-up, records etc).
Holy Dolls / Pyhät Nuket was originally some kind a project what me and Lateri made for fun. Music was something like Joy Division, Killing Joke etc… We did one demo in studio, just Lateri and me, in drums we had Stydy. Rike heard the tape and offer him to form that kind of band. We thought that let's see what happens. The end result was awful pop band which had nothing to do with the original idea. We did one lp(Kuoleman sotatanssi), which was terrible, and after that I finished in that band. In same time I left Riistetyt. The new guys which replaced me were the same guys who were in USA tour. Pyhät Nuket did their stuff for years, second lp(Enkelit sulkivat silmänsä -Angels closed their eyes, in english) was as shit as the first one, until Lateri/Vivian and Make left the band. Name changed Nuket and new singer was old Kaaos bass player Kalle. I don't know what they've done later. Lateri and Make formed band called Holy Dolls with ex-Kaaos Epe and some other guys. They did MLP "Holy Dolls" and the style was 77 punk rock. That's all I know about that.
4. How do you think RIISTETYT will sound nowadays (at Lepakko you sounded just as good as in "the old days"!!)? Will you still sing in finnish? Why/ why not?
Nowadays the sound is more powerfull than in Lepakko. Biggest reason for that is Rike again. His way to play guitar is not for us. The athmosphere is very good without him 'cos there isn't any boss and musical leader, and that you can hear in our music, I hope. We still sing in finnish, why not. It have worked for all these years.
5. Read in some old interview that Lateri blew up his appartment when trying to make homebrew, what´s up with that??! Any other bizzare/ cool/ wierd memories??
This must be that event when Lateri still lived with his parents. He was very drunk and tried to make homebrew, when his mother came home. Mother was very pissed and got angry to Lateri. Mother said very bad to him and he broke some things and leaved home. In next day when Lateri was sober, he was too embrassed to go home any more. So he lived with Stydy for couple of years. Only memory cool memory what I remember now is that when Riistetyt played with Killing Joke in Saarijärvi (a place in somewhere in Finland). It was a local sportcenter where the gig was. Killing Joke didn't want us to play their backline, not even same stage. So the arranger built another stage beside the real stage. The gig was great but the stage broke up under our feet. It's totally crashed. Audience was so active. Anybody was hurt, but I don't never forget this happening.
8. What are the old RIISTETYT-members doing nowadays...? Anyone still into punkrock/ active in the punk-scene? That Stydy-guy was a hell of a drummer, is he still playing?
I haven't met some members for years, but I try to tell what I've heard. Perry lives in the countryside and breeds trotters (horses, you know). What I've heard that he have some kind of band, but he's barely serious with that. Piise have played some projects after he left Positive Negative, he also do some kind of zine. Stydy (who is Piise's cousin) does nothing, and I mean that. He still lives with his parents, and he don't play drums. What a waste of good drummer. Raipe is some kind of entrepreneur. He sells something but I don't know what. I don't know what Jaska is doing recently, but what I've heard from Lateri, he's some kind of manager in somewhere. Rike is an asshole (hehe). He's director in TV, and he is doing comedyseries (quite good ones) there. Make is sound designer at theatre in Tampere. He's with us in this Riistetyt thing like some kind of producer and songwriter. Mika have trained his brains out with steroids when he've build his body. I've never liked him anyway. Latreri is working in shoe factory. He's very active; writing lyrics all the time etc. What I'm doing recently? I'm studying graphic design / multimedia / web nowadays. These are very good instruments to do revolution in these days (hehe). I'm also working with Cockroach Comix (I'll tell about that later).
9. Who makes the lyrics and what are they about? Have you made any new songs? Any new releases planned??
Almost all lyrcs are made by Lateri and he's doing them continously. In those old songs what we're playing nowadays is mainly new lyrics, 'cos the world is changed so much for those days when them had been written. Lyrics are about all kind of suffer, war, social and political problems etc. Nothing new but there's new perspective in them. We have a couple of new songs now and the Fight Records have been interested to release a 7" ep in this year.
11. What RIISTETYT-record do you like the most and why?
I think that is Skitsofrenia MLP, 'cos it's simply the best. There is best songs and best sound on that record. What can I tell more. I can't boast my own bands products.
12. What is it in punk that attracts you? What keeps you going?
Punk is way of life to me. I can't live other way, that's it. What keeps me going? It's the world around me, all the fucking shit; policy, faschism etc. That's the reason why I've always resist. And it's giving me energy to live.
13. How do you think that todays scene differs from the one back in the old days (if at all?!)??
This is the most asked question what I know, hehe. Some things haven't been changed at all but some things are changed a lot. In 80's there were only 2-3 gigs/happening in year but happenings were really big. Everybody from all over the country came to them. The Lepakko weekend was something like that. Nowadays the happenings are much more locally things and there are gigs almost daily somewhere. The activity for demonstration is very high in these days. I don't remember any demonstrations in 80's, only couple of squattigs. This is that sort of thing that somebody can write a book about it
14.I heard that there was somekind of rival-thing between RIISTETYT and KAAOS (Jakke and Lateri?) in the early days??
I think that it was Jakke who maintained some kind of rival thing. Jakke have always been so jealous to other bands, especially if there are members who have once played with him. I know that he's jalous to Riistetyt now. That kind of person is Jakke
15.Tell me about Kuolleet Kukat; releases, gigs/tours, line-up, etc...?
Kuolleet Kukat formed in 1984. The line-up was Jakke-v/gtr, Masa (ex-bastard, Protesti) -dr, Nappi-b. The first ep "Isoveli Valvoo" (Big brother is watching you) came out end of that year. The line up on the ep was Jakke-v/gtr, Jasu-v, Nappi-b, Poko (Kaaos) -d. Band did couple of gigs and went to studio in October 1985 to make lp. The lp never came out 'cos record label ripped off. Line up in those days was Jakke-v, Jasu-v, Toby (ex Fucking Finland, plays in Two Witches novadays) -gtr, Jartze-gtr, Nappi-b, Juha (ex Tampere SS)-d. In 86 band faded out 'cos we had any training place and members had so much to do, studies etc.
In 1993 Fight Records was interested to publish a four track ep from -85 lp session. This release was "Vallankumous ep" (Revolution). Jakke and me thought that what a fuck, KK have never split up and we have good reason to continue.
Line up was almost the same than 86 but some changes was happened; Jakke-v, Toby-gtr, Essi-gtr, Nappi-b, Juha-dr. Little bit later Toby had to leave and Poika signed up to play guitar. In spring of 94 we did the first new stuff ep "Kyynelkasua" (Tear Gas). In August 94 Poika left the band and Luigi (ex painajainen, Turun Tauti etc) came in. The CD "Kansanmurha" (Genocide) came out from Fight Records in spring of 95. In May of that year we did a two week tour in Europe; Poland, Czecch, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia, Germany. Kuolleet Kukat split up in December 1995. It was shame 'cos band was almost really good. There are many reasons: we did about 1-2 gig/week and everybody was nearly burn out, Jakke was always drunk and he hadn't strenght to continue. That was the simplified Kuolleet Kukat story.
Kuolleet Kukat dicography:

16. Tell me a bit about Cockrach comix??
Cockroach Comix is a one man's multimedia / web / graphic design organization. It started when I notced that I was so bored to see my name in record covers. Nappi here, Nappi there. Cockroach Comix is much more beholder friendly name. I've done several ep covers (Nukke -ep of Kaaos was the first), CD covers, posters, web sites (Cockroach Comix don't have own homepages, what a shame), CD-Roms and all kind of artworks. Nowadays I have so much work that I dont't do other projects exept my own. I have a job too, which takes a large part of my time every day. It's same kind of work what CRC does. Anyway Cockroach Comix is still working and we can always confer about products, prices etc…
17. Okei, that´s all I could come up with, anything you want to add?? KADUT ON MEIDÄN, CHEERS!!
You can be loony, but never be stupid !!!
Keep on Fighting!
