| 1. Talk about
the beginning, about Cadgers and Riistetyt. The first line-up and
when you entered in Riistetyt. |
| Cadgers was formed in 1978 or 79. In 81 (in fall
of the year) they made a split with Kaaos. Line-up was Lateri -
voc., Perry - gtr., Piise - b. and Stydy - dr. In spring of 1982
Perry left the Cadgers and formed a band called Järjestyshäiriö
(they did one great demo-tape, on vocals was Kake from Kaaos). Raipe
replaced Perry in guitar and so band became Riistetyt. After the
first ep "Laki ja Järjestys" Piise leaved and Perry
came back. |
I entered band in summer 1983, after
I had left Kaaos. In same time Kaaos-drummer Jaska came to Riistetyt
because Piise and Stydy didn't played in band anymore. We made "Tuomiopäivä"
-ep and Perry went to army. After him came Rike from Bastards to
play guitar. In next spring (1984, after the "Raiskattu Tulevaisuus"
and "Nightmares in Darkness" LPs) I had a very bad disagreement
with Rike, so I looked the best to leave. After that came Kuolleet
Kukat, about that later
|
| 2. How has the
politics and the young culture in that time? |
| Finland was a little country
in neighbourhood of big Soviet Union. Finland have never been a
socialist country, but USSR made big shadow above us. That and narrow-minded
general opinion were the biggest reasons why finnish punk-scene
became so strong. |
Police were very
aggressive in those days. The organizing gigs and other happenings
was very hard. In 80's there were only 2-3 gigs/happening in year
but happenings were really big. Everybody from all over the country
came to them. |
| 3. Which are
your old and new musical influences? |
| I can't specify any particular musical
influence for nowadays. In the later 70's there were Stooges, MC
5, New Yor Dolls, Pistols etc. Later came Crass, Discharge, Disorder,
Amebix etc. Those were the bands which made so strong effect for
me that I came that what I am. |
From those times
the scale is expand and so many bands has come. Because of that
I don't want mention any exactly. (Maybe Tragedy, Counterblast etc
)
|
| 4. What did your
lyrics express in the 80's and what about novadays? |
| I feel that, so that the lyrics and
their subjects have't been changed just at all from those time.
of course the world have been changed and because of that the contents
of lyrics got new extensios. Also the age of us brings certainly
more depth to words. |
| 5. Why you decided
to be a "punk" and back with the band after years stopped? |
I don't know why I decided to be a
punk. It just came when I was 11-12 years old.
As a matter of fact I haven't been away from scene at all. Kuolleet
Kukat formed at once after I left Riistetyt 1984 and it ended 1995.
Positive Negative began 1996 and worked till 1999. And then restarted
the Riistetyt. In addition i've got a number of minor projects all
this time. |
| 6. What changed
in your ideas about life, comparing with the beginning of the band
and it's influences with music novadays? The CD "Proloaded
Millennium" is very different than the "Tuomiopäivä"
ep, for example
|
| We must remember that "Tuomiopäivä"
recorded before as content of "Proloaded Millenniumin",
which is with Rike. Perry played in "Tuomiopäivä"
ep. You can hear that. In the beginning of the band world and it's
evil was reality but anyhow distant. Nowadays all shit is daily
life. In the beginning of 80's we were |
young and lived with our parents
and we didn't need to take care of daily living just at all. At
present we have to to make absolutely correctly something to stay
alive. I think that this affects mostly to bands way to think. |
| 7. Riistetyt
is a big influence in Brazil since 82, do you know what is the reason
of that fame? |
| Well, I think that the finnish hardcore
is much more anger and rough than anywhere else. Of course here
in Finland is much of very poor HC-bands, but here lives just 5
million people and here is so many punks etc. We have been lucky
that our records have extend so many places. Sorry
I really
can't answer that, just tried. |
| 8. Talk about
your period in the band and the other projects including Kuolleet
Kukat and Positive Negative, with your friend, Jakke. |
| I met Jakke first time in 1982 when he asked me
play drums in Kaaos. It didn't work and I became bass player. We
made "Totaalinen Kaaos" ep and 1983 moved to Riistetyt.
When I left Riistetyt in 1984 we formed Kuolleet Kukat. We made
one ep "Isoveli Valvoo" and LP. The LP never came out,
'cos the record company failured. This happened in 1986. Kuolleet
Kukat got break for a while. We had a band called Kiss Me Deadly
with Jakke and it was same kind of music than KK, but we sang in
english. In 1993 Fight published the "Vallankumous" ep.
4 song from the 1986 LP. We started again make gigs and new songs.
|
Line up was almost same than in 80's
just guitarist joined in Two Witches and we had to get new one.
Ep "Kyynelkaasua" came out in 1994 and CD "Kansanmurha"
in 1995. We made a large European tour in same year and in end of
the year Kuolleet Kukat broke up.
Positive Negative started in Aug. 1996. We made 3 ep's ("Cut
the Crap
it's Time to Act" 1997, "For How Much Long
We Can Stand Their Oppression" 1998, "Throughout the Holocaust"
1999) and one split with Detestation (1997). In 1997 we made a tour
in Germany. In Aug. 1999 the PN splitted up. In next year we played
one gig in Puntala Festivals. That's all. |
| 9. Wars happening
in all the sides, peace treatments and nature protection broken,
what do you think about the actual global situation and the perspectives
for the next years? |
| if you would have asked this a few month ago, I
would have answered nearly at the same way as now But I think so
so that because of all these terror strike-force happened and they
have counteraction, the light future of mankind is a lot improbable
as earlier. That what happened in New York and what happens now
in Afganistan directs to vicious circle which have no way out at
all. |
About environmental protection I quote
one of our song called "Ristiinnaulittu Evoluutio":
Fuckin´radioactive and bitter nuclear fallout-waste / which
crashes and buries in strom of fire / raped the land and crucified
and doomed evolution in dead / fuckin´ radioactive and endless-nuclear-winter
/ radiation is lethal and earth worthless / scum started to bleed
itself allready then when we fell, climbed down from trees |
| 10. Which are
the band plans, next releases and tours? Some months a go you told
me about intentions to tour in Germany
and what about a Brazilian
tour, are you interested? |
| We are just got ready our new LP. It's going to
be published in Brazil before we touring there. Later it comes out
in USA (Mind Control) and in Europe (Fight) We're coming to tease
you at the end of November (the first show is 29.11. Sao Paulo)
|
We were on tour in Germany last spring
and our purpose is to touring wider in Europe in next summer. In
spring we try to get out an ep. |
| 11. That's all
my friend, leave a message and contact addresses to the Brazilian
punks, be strong and I hope meeting you someday in Brazil or in
Europe |
